Situation: A leading automotive manufacturer wanted to increase its share of the global auto market by introducing four new models in record time. The client needed to replace an obsolete system design that would be insufficient to achieve the task.

Solution: A thorough technology investigation was conducted, and a review of best practices was completed to help determine which solution would deliver high reliability, increased speed, fast recovery from any possible hardware errors, and increased efficiency. BCG also determined the base high-level requirements and conducted an in-depth investigation. Common libraries were designed to control 140 specific software sites at the plant and support graphical user interfaces. Serving as a project manager, BCG managed several vendors to ensure their components for the new system fit the overall specifications and requirements and were delivered on schedule to the new plant.
